Being Frugal while Cleaning your House
Ok, stop laughing. I am not joking here. Have you actually paid close attention to the price of cleaners out there? They are really expensive. I am all for a clean house, I clean every day, on and off all day long. I like my house clean. But do you have to go broke doing this? No, you really don’t. Here are some great tips to have a clean house, and not break your pocket book.
How many bottles of cleaning supplies do you have on your shelf? You probably have one for every area of your home. Why not stop buying all them different cleaners and pick up a multi purpose cleaner? Pledge has their all in one cleaner that I really like. I can do my wood, plastic, granite and much more with this. I have 4 cleaners in my house. The pledge multi purpose, spray window cleaner, fantastik for my stove, grill, car and animal cages. Then I have scrubbing bubbles for my sinks, bathtub and my toilet. I use my fantastik for my floors, and then I use the pledge to give them a little shine.
When doing laundry, we all separate our clothes by colors. Try separating them like this, but if you have more then one load of the same color, like darks, then separate the piles into a light weight load and a heavy load. Since heavy things like jeans and towels take long in the dryer you will only have to have your dryer on for a long time, once. Instead of having the loads mixed up and having them on twice. While doing laundry, use a few tablespoons less then what you would normally use of detergent. Your clothes will still come out just as clean, and you will save on detergent. Read your fabric softener box. Most of the time, people don’t read these things. If they use liquid, they will just fill the cap up and dump it in. Did you know, most of them tell you to fill the cap half way? You could be using half the amount of fabric softener then you normally do. Same with dryer sheets. Many use more then they should. If you want to get even cheaper, you can put ½ cup of white vinegar in your final rinse and eliminate the need for fabric softener all together.
